Minimum Free Energy Structure

The minimum free energy structure of a sequence is the secondary structure that is calculated to have the lowest value of free energy. It is synonymous with natural-mode structure, but it is not necessarily the structure that forms in nature.

The lower the free energy, the more likely, in theory, the structure will form.
