On EternaCon & Labs

jnicol: Welcome to dev chat!  [3:01 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: nvm lol  [3:02 PM]

jnicol: sorry, had to send an email :)  [3:02 PM]

mat747: oh  [3:02 PM]

jnicol: Hope everyone has seen the new labs that were made active  [3:02 PM]

mat747: Yes thanks you  [3:03 PM]

jnicol: This may be a short meeting tonight :)  [3:03 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: that's okay  [3:03 PM]

jnicol: evryone is preparing for the state of Eterna on Friday  [3:04 PM]

jnicol: any questions or issues?  [3:04 PM]

Eli Fisker: Hi John :)  [3:05 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: mm not really  [3:05 PM]

jnicol: Hey Eli :)  [3:05 PM]

jnicol: Have you tried any of the labs?  [3:05 PM]

Eli Fisker: I have started on Brourds switches  [3:06 PM]

mat747: John - where is the Dev todo list now days ?  [3:06 PM]

jnicol: Actually I have been working on items from Rhijus list [3:07 PM]

jnicol: mostly lab collection issues [3:07 PM]

Eli Fisker: Glad to hear you are fixing them [3:08 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: :D [3:08 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: I've been speaking with rhiju about eternacon haha [3:08 PM]

jnicol: Preparing for new labs, so that sequences can be collected and synthesized faster than we have done previously [3:08 PM]

mat747: John - Can we view Rhijus list ? [3:09 PM]

jnicol: Any news you want share on Eternacon? [3:09 PM]

Andrewwu: no [3:09 PM]

jnicol: Mat, I'll add the list to the news item [3:10 PM]

Eli Fisker: Great [3:10 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: we're working on a budget and official announcements [3:10 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: also figuring out a date to hold eternacon [3:10 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: fun stuff :) [3:11 PM]

jnicol: Excited to hear all about it! [3:11 PM]

Hyphema: hey guys, about the labs.  Is the last lab in the FMN sanity lab still a single state puzzle, which i think may be incorrect? [3:12 PM]

jnicol: Hi Hyphema, thats what Brourd gave me [3:12 PM]

Hyphema: ah....?  hmmm [3:12 PM]

jnicol: Let me send him a message to veriy [3:12 PM]

Hyphema: perhaps its just a single state test on the 1x1 loop nexxt to the FMN [3:13 PM]

Eli Fisker: Hi Hyph :) [3:13 PM]

Hyphema: hey eli! [3:13 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: hey hyph! [3:13 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: another thing rhiju and I were talking about, actually [3:13 PM]

Hyphema: Did i read that you said labs will be synth'd faster  and the cycles will be shorter? [3:13 PM]

jnicol: Well we are leaving the cycles the same for now [3:14 PM]

Hyphema: hy Tomoe. sorry to jump in your eternacon info.  i happy to hear the eternacon is still a go. [3:14 PM]

TomoeUzumaki: heh no prob [3:14 PM]

jnicol: but, the last round of 9000+ designs in 2 weeks prove we can get results quickly [3:14 PM]

jnicol: abd the order for the dna templates was received by Stanford today [3:15 PM]

ADaaboul: http://eterna.cmu.edu/sites/default/files/chat_screens/202879_1422486945.png [3:15 PM]

ADaaboul: im stuck on this one [3:15 PM]

Hyphema: i wouldnt call it proof.  it was just very easy to produce 9000 designs.   switches and practically any lab by Brourd requires 10x more time and thought [3:15 PM]

jnicol: so they are testing the designs now [3:15 PM]

jnicol: true Hyphema, the next area to focus on will be the analysis tools [3:16 PM]

Hyphema: BTW, what did you end up doing for synthisizing.  there were more than 12000 designs, right?  [3:17 PM]

mat747: John - will there be an update to the UI to be able to view the "results quickly" ? [3:18 PM]

Eli Fisker: That would help a ton [3:18 PM]

jnicol: We have been talking about viewers but nothing has been started [3:20 PM]

machinelves: this would be the perfect time to ensure players have the tools and UI needed to parse the data [3:20 PM]

jnicol: Hyphema we had 11000 designs from the Johan's MS2 labs [3:21 PM]

mat747: john - will player get to view/discuss options or possible selected ? [3:21 PM]

Cogito: oooh is this chat dev? [3:21 PM]

jnicol: This is dev chat [3:21 PM]

jnicol: and welcome [3:21 PM]

Hyphema: so did 9000 of the MS@ seq get synthd?  and what about the dimer lab? [3:23 PM]

jnicol: each of the MS2/FMN sublabs had 1300 designs chosen [3:24 PM]

Hyphema: good to know, thanks [3:24 PM]

jnicol: the MS2/dimer labs had 1000, 1100 and 1250 almost all designs made for the dimers were taken [3:24 PM]

Hyphema: great [3:25 PM]

jnicol: I see the copying over from dev to production of the dimer sequences missed a couple [3:26 PM]

jnicol: so I will backfill the ones missing [3:26 PM]

Hyphema: Are there any lab results soon to be released?  Cody's? [3:27 PM]

jnicol: Cody's and Eli's were in the same run just ordered [3:28 PM]

jnicol: so they just started preparing and testing today [3:29 PM]

Eli Fisker: Great :) [3:29 PM]

machinelves: nav buttons for next and previous lab in the puzzle interface would be nice, so you don't have to go back to the list to review lab results. or even an in-puzzle window you can bring up to browse results from that round [3:29 PM]

Eli Fisker: We will need, else we have no chance of doing through analysis [3:30 PM]

Eli Fisker: Not with the amount of data coming our way [3:30 PM]

Eli Fisker: soon [3:30 PM]

jnicol: thx elves and eli, yes that will be key to help us [3:31 PM]

machinelves: did we get the spreadsheet button implemented? [3:31 PM]

machinelves: to download quick per round [3:31 PM]

Hyphema: Oh, sorry John, you did say that earlier [3:31 PM]

jnicol: not yet elves [3:32 PM]

machinelves: i understand meechl & omei and others have done a great job with data so far, but with this quantity will be a huge help [3:32 PM]

machinelves: kk thanks John :) [3:33 PM]

jnicol: big thanks to the players that have taken on tasks to help with the analysis [3:33 PM]

Eli Fisker: Happy to help [3:34 PM]

machinelves: yes agree, big thanks everybody :) [3:34 PM]

jnicol: any more questions before I leave? [3:34 PM]

machinelves: thanks for your help John! :) [3:35 PM]

mat747: Thanks John [3:35 PM]

Cogito: my question is, there have been lots of UI changes going through in the dev systems, when can we expect to see them in the game? [3:36 PM]

hoglahoo: Is eterna doing anything in the near future as far as public visibility to get new players? [3:36 PM]

Cogito: + etera3d, any plans there? [3:36 PM]

jnicol: not that I know of hog [3:36 PM]

jnicol: 3d has not started [3:36 PM]

jnicol: Cogito, the changes in dev are in production now [3:37 PM]

Cogito: I saw some stuff was brought over, didn't realise if it was everything [3:38 PM]

Cogito: anyway, thanks I have to run! will see you all round [3:38 PM]

jnicol: nandos server is still the testbed of ideas [3:38 PM]

jnicol: jnicol server is for a little more mature features [3:38 PM]

Hyphema: there's a joke there.... [3:39 PM]

jnicol: so you may see some changes on nando's but be aware that is still being developed [3:39 PM]

jnicol: heh Hyph, stop it :) [3:39 PM]

Eli Fisker: Hyph, :) And I suspect Nando will be smiling [3:39 PM]

Hyphema: The changes that i have seen so far have been great! [3:39 PM]

jnicol: after testing on jnicol and are satisfied, the changes are moved into productionk [3:40 PM]

jnicol: *and we are satisfied [3:41 PM]

Hyphema: @tomoe, when do you think you will make an announcement about eternacon? [3:41 PM]

jnicol: ok, thanks for the chat everyone! [3:41 PM]

machinelves: thanks John! have a nice night :) [3:42 PM]

Hyphema: thanks john! [3:42 PM]

Eli Fisker: Bye John [3:42 PM]
